A week-long 'National Fisheries Week-2024' will begin on July 30 across the country to promote sustainable development and expansion of fisheries resources.
"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the 'National Fisheries Week-2024' at 10:30 on July 31 at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre here," Secretary of the Fisheries and Livestock Ministry Syed Mahmud Belal Haider told an inter-ministerial meeting at Fisheries Department conference room in the city today.
The Fisheries and Livestock Ministry will celebrate 'National Fisheries Week-2024' from July 30 to August 5.
Various programmes have been taken to mark the event, including colourful processions, press conference, fisheries fair and release of fish fry at Bangabhaban, Ganabhaban, Sangsad Bhaban and ponds in the city.
The meeting was addressed, among others, by Director General (DG) of Fisheries Department, Syed Md. Alamgir, Additional IGP Md. Anwar Hossain and DIG Md. Mizanur Rahman.
