Nation needs Sheikh Hasina

Published : 27 Sep 2023 09:53 PM

We, as a nation, are really indebted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who has given us a sovereign and independent country through his life-long struggle and we are equally unfortunate that we have lost our Father of the Nation in the tragic month of August in 1975.

After the assassination of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib, Bangladesh was thrown into a quagmire of political uncertainty. It lost its glories and ideals upon which the Independent Bangladesh was founded. Bangladesh Awami League, which led the country’s Liberation War, had also lost its direction. Wide-ranging frustration and uncertainty had engulfed the party. Just at that moment of crisis Sheikh Hasina, daughter of the Bangabandhu was made president of Bangladesh Awami League. People were filled with enthusiasm when Sheikh Hasina took to the helm of the Awami League and a new hope of march forward set in.

Sheikh Hasina, now prime Minister of Bangladesh, took the responsibility of running the Awami League with her own dynamic leadership and started a vigorous journey through overcoming all the odds and obstacles despite continuous life threats.

Nothing could prevent her from her task. After a long struggle for the restoration of democracy Sheikh Hasina finally could defeat the evil forces, which were been engaged in destabilizing the country, and took the responsibility to run the government. In a short span of time she made Bangladesh a development role model. Bangladesh is now on development super highway. She has taken short, medium and long term development plan. The delta plan 2100 is a most promising plan for Bangladesh to achieve its goals. She has already uplifted the country from LDCs to status of a developing nation and in 2041 Bangladesh would be a developed nation.

So, under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the nation has developed a habit of having a dream and the dreams come true one after another under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina.

Ever since Bangladesh came into being as the independent nation in 1971 through a bloody War of Liberation in 1971 it was lagging behind proper development though the first Prime Minister Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib, the founder of the country, had only a three and a half years to build the war-ravaged country.

When Sheikh Hasina first came to power in 1996 there had been a real initiative to develop the country, but when the widow of a general came to power the development initiative was stalled again and the country had earned bad name as a most corrupt nation under the rule of the general’s widow.

Sheikh Hasina, again came to power in 2009 with a significant majority and she started taking mega projects and within only in five years only she made Bangladesh a role model of the economic development.  The pace and progress depends on a leader like Sheikh Hasina. Bangladesh has long been facing the challenges of fighting Islamic extremists by whom Bangladesh is hit hard. The way other social challenges have been met by the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was unique and unprecedented.

Under the directives of Sheikh Hasina our army and its special forces which are assigned to fight the terror, have curbed the extremists after the Holey Artisan incident, the most sensational terror activities in the history of Bangladesh. And due to the iron hand fist determination of Sheikh Hasina another incident like Holey Artisan was nipped in the bud.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina won landslide victory and it is her responsibility to run the government and she knows how she will meet her bigger challenges. She has proved herself efficient in making Digital Bangladesh a reality. She was efficient in solving the long-standing border disputes with India. The critics just cannot think of the difficulties of gaining support of all the lawmakers of both the houses of Indian Parliament. They unanimously voted in favour of that Border Bill which never happened before in Indian history. And that was only to express whole hearted support to Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Bangladesh won its maritime boundary dispute with India and Myanmar under the able leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. It is Sheikh Hasina who dared go for launching the Bangabandhu Satellite into space. And it is only Sheikh Hasina who dared challenge the World Bank. So people should keep that in mind when they criticize her.

Some critics are deliberately trying to create confusion among the people. But it never worked in the past and it will not do in the future. People are now well informed, enlightened and they are conscious enough.

Just after the election held on December 30, critics started saying what Sheikh Hasina would do with this huge election victory; how much responsibility she has now and what she needs to do and so on. Talk-show participators have started to give their ‘wise comments’ on several TV channels. But they don’t have any idea what Sheikh Hasina is, and how she can act in times of weed.

People have started saying that Bangabandhu gave us a new and independent country and his most competent daughter is making Bangladesh economically prosperous, socially developed and technologically advanced. The people of Bangladesh are also indebted to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. People are praying for Sheikh Hasina. Long live Sheikh Hasina. Happy birth day to you Sheikh Hasina.
