National Voter Day was observed in Jhenaidah with a befitting manner. District election office in Jhenaidah organized the day with a slogan to protect voting rights in the Mujib Year.
A colourful rally was brought out form Old DC Court premises in the morning that ended at the starting point parading the main roads in the town. Later a discussion was held in the office of the district election office. Abdus Salek, district election officer (DEO) in Jhenaidah presided over the discussion where deputy commissioner Manira Begum attended as chief guest. Superintendent of police (SP) in Jhenaidah Muntasirul Islam, Upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) SM Shahin and Jhenaidah Press club president M Raihan attended as special guests. Ex commander of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangshad Jhenaidah district unit command Makbul Hossain, retired principal of Government Nurun Nahar Women’s College NM Shahjalal, Upazila election officer Mashiur Rahman among others spoke. District information officer (DIO) Abu Bakar Soddique facilitated the event.
The speakers said the voters are the main decision makers in the election process to elect their chanceful candidates as the elected people play role in nation building activities both in rural and urban areas.
They urged upon the people age over 18 to enroll names as voters to become a future citizen of the nation.
