The National Voter Day-2020 was observed across the country on Monday with colourful rally, discussion and cultural programmes. The Election Commission, local administration and others arranged the events.
The EC observed the day for the first time on March 1 in 2019. In January last, the Cabinet meeting decided to observe the National Voter Day on March 2 instead of March 1 every year. So the day was observed in the country on Monday. Our correspondents sent news item on the issue.
In Khulna, a discussion was arranged at conference room of Khulna Circuit House marking the day. Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khalque spoke at the discussion as the chief guest, reports our Khulna Correspondent. Khulna divisional commissioner Dr Md Anwar Hossain Howlader presided over the function, while it was addressed, among others, by DIG of Khulna range of police Md Habibur Rahman and additional deputy commissioner Ziaur Rahman.
In Bogura, a colourful rally was brought out in the district town in the morning. Deputy Commissioner of Bogura Foyez Ahmed led the rally, reports our Bogura Correspondent.
Later, a discussion was held at the conference room of Bogura DC office with senior district election officer Mahbub Alam Shah in the chair. Chairman of Bogura Zila Parishad Dr Mokbul Hossain, panel chairman Asadur Rahman Dulu, Deputy director of Bogura LGD Sujia Nazim, municipal mayor Advocate AKM Mahbubur Rahman spoke on the occasion, among others.
In Pabna, Upazila Election office arranged various programmes at Ishwardi upazila in the district. A colourful rally was brought out at the upazila in the morning, reports our Ishwardi Correspondent. Government officials and local elite persons took part in the rally. Later, a discussion was held at conference room of the upazila parishad with UNO Shihab Rayhan in the chair. Upazila chairman Nuruzzman Bishwas was present as the chief guest.
Kishoreganj district administration brings out a colourful rally in the district town, and Keshabpur Upazila Election office brings out a colourful rally at the upazila in Jashore on Monday marking the National Voter Day-2020.
In Kishoreganj, marking the day Kishoreganj District Administration and District Election Officer jointly arranged discussion. A discussion meeting held on Kishoreganj Collectorate conference room, reports Kishoreganj Correspondent. Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Abdullah-al-Mashud presided over the meeting. Deputy Commissioner Md. Sarowar Murshed Chowhdury was attended as chief guest.
It was addressed among others by Additional Police Super Masud Anowar, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Abdul Kadir Mia, District Election Officer Mohammad Ashraful Alam, District Mohila Awami League General Secretary Bilkis Begum and Kishoreganj Press Club Member Secretary Monour Hossain Rony spoke on the occasion. Earliar a colourful rally brought out in the town.
In Satkhira, with the slogan, ' Voter hoye vote debo, Desh gorai ansho nebo' ( We shall cast our votes after becoming voters and participate into building the country), a colourful rally and discusssion meeting was held in observance of National Voter Day-2020 at Satkhira on Monday morning, reports our Satkhira Correspondent.
District Administration and the District Election Office jointly organised the programme. The colourful rally holding banner and placards was taken out from in front of the office of Deputy Commissioner which paraded various streets of the town and ended for a meeting at the auditorium of district Silpakala Academy.
Presided over by S M Mostafa Kamal, Deputy Commissioner of Satkhira, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Freedom Fighter Mir Mostaque Ahmed Robi MP as the chief guest. Mir Mostaque Ahmed Rabi said, vote was an important issue and a sacred deposit. Every one should cast their votes consciously for the development of the country.
Addtitional Deputy Commissioner Badiuzzman, DD of LGRD Hussain Shaokat, ASP Ziaur Rahman and District Election Officer Nazmul Kabir attended the meeting as special guests while it was conducted by sadar Upazila Election Officer Sheikh Shariful Islam.
