Domestic football season 2024-2025 was supposed to start in October. But the professional league committee had to defer the schedule due to crisis of ground and some demands of the clubs.
Bashundhara Kings coach Valerio Tita thinks that the reason behind his team’s failures was lack of match preparation ahead of the AFC Challenge League.
National team coach Javier Cabrera also feels it in the same way. According to the Spaniard, if the footballers would have opportunity to play enough matches, their physical fitness and some other conditions would be clear.
It is just 10 days left Bangladesh will play two FIFA friendly matches against Maldives to take places on November 13 and 16 at home ground. To prepare the team for upcoming FIFA matches, Bangladesh started their practice from Friday with 16 players.
Kabarra, who was very unhappy with the team’s preparation process, said, “We expected that we would have five to six competitive matches before the matches of November window. But we could not play any match, even we have not got enough players in the camp to play matches among themselves. For a long time out of matches will be a negative impact in their games. Despite uge lacking I will try to do a good result against Maldives.”
Bangladesh team have a big assignment in March 2025 when they will play the Asian Cup qualifiers in March. It is very important to win against Maldives in both the friendly matches to to be in third place in the qualifying draw. Kabrera also thinks it is good chance – “We get another chance to be in the Pot-3 during the qualifying draw. If we would not get the expected result, we could not earn the Pot 3. But I believe that we have ability to achieve what we want.
It will be an advantage for us that we will play at our home ground, we also know the opponents well. I think it will be certainly a tough challenge.”
