National Legal Aid Services Day-2023 was observed in Narail district on Friday with a view to ensuring the rule of law, fundamental human rights and justice for everyone.
This year the theme of the day is 'Fulfillment of Bangabandhu's dream, opening the door to free legal services'.
"According to Article 27 of the Constitution of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, all are equal before the law and all are entitled to equal protection of the law. In order to make this right a reality, the 'National Legal Aid Provision Act 2000' has been enacted".
Marking the day, a colorful rally was brought out from the premises of the district judge court and ended at the District Shilpakala Academy premises after parading the main roads of the town. After the rally, a discussion was held in the District Shilpakala Academy auditorium at 11:00 am. District Legal Aid Committee Chairman and Senior District and Sessions Judge Almach Hossain Mridha presided over the function.Judicial Magistrate Amatul Morsheda moderated the discussion.
Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Pranay Kumar Das, Chief Judicial Magistrate Kabir Uddin Pramanik, Civil Surgeon Dr. Sajeda Begum, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Zubair Hossain Chowdhury, Zilla Parishad chairman Advocate Subas Chandra Bose,District Bar Association President Advocate Hemayetullah Hiru, General Secretary Advocate Sheikh Tayeb Ali Asad Bir Muktijodha Advocate Omar Farooq, GP Advocate Achin Chakraborty, District UP Chairman Association President Azizur Rahman Bhuiyan and District Legal Aid Beneficiary Sumi Khatun among others, were present in the discussion.
At the end of discussion meeting, the best panel lawyer Razia Sultana and Kazi Abul Kalam Azad of the Legal Aid Committee were given the crest.Songs and plays which related to Legal Aid were performed in the occasion.
