The newly appointed Superintendent of Police (SP) for Narail Sadira Khatun on Sunday sought cooperation of media workers to eliminate drugs in implementing the zero tolerance policy against drugs.
The SP made the call in a views-sharing meeting with local journalists from the print, electronic and online media at Police lines coference his conference room in Narail district town at 1:00 pm.
During the exchange of views, the overall law and order situation of the district, drugs, sexual harassment, terrorism and various problems and possibilities were openly discussed. The SP also said that police is working as a role model in the construction of Bangabandhu's Sonar Bangla. Police has a great role in implementing the SDG goals of the current government. If social crime can be strictly suppressed and security and peace of the people can be maintained, the country will move forward as a role model for development. Journalists will work as stakeholders with the police in crime control and suppression. With cooperation of journalists, police want to work in crime control with their skills, qualifications and experience. To make the police station a place of trust, he directed the police officers including the OC to take care of it as a people-friendly police with the highest professionalism so that no one is harassed. She expressed about the strict stance against sexual harassment and drugs. She requested the cooperation of journalists to speed up the police work with transparency by providing correct information and constructive criticism.
The SP said, “I know Narail people are very peaceful, friendly and respectful of law and order. I feel proud to join as Narail’s SP. My first task will be to implement the zero tolerance policy for drug eradication with stakeholders at various levels in the society.”
She said, “Drugs will not be exempted in any way. Besides, we will try to prevent drug smuggling, terrorism, sexual harassment and activities that cause deterioration of law and order with utmost importance.”
Necessary steps would be taken to improve the communication system in the district town and provide legal services to the people living in riverine char areas through strengthening patrolling.
Terming journalism as the fourth pillar of the state, the SP said journalists always play a great role in improving the law and order situation in the society.
The SP said police should serve the people as their servants and it would be emphasized that no one is harassed unnecessarily specially thana.
Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Riazul Islam conducting the views sharing meeting, ASP Kamruzzaman, Dolon Miah, DSB Inspector Mir Shariful Haque, President of Narail Press Club Enamul Kabir Tuku, its former president Advocate Alomgir Siddique,former vice president Sultan Mahmood among others were present in the views-sharing meeting.
