Emerging pacey youngster Nahid Rana has established himself as the fastest bowler in the annals of Bangladeshi cricket. In the recent series against Pakistan, this pacer from Chapainawabganj delivered some electrifying performances. As he prepares for the upcoming series against India, Rana is putting in extensive training sessions. During a brief respite, he shared his insights on the experience of bowling at a speed of 152 km/h.
In a video message released by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Tuesday, Nahid expressed, "To be frank, I don't model myself after anyone. I hold all Bangladeshi pace bowlers in high regard, having grown up watching them on television. However, I aspire to be Nahid Rana, just Nahid Rana for Bangladesh."
Discussing his experience of bowling at 152 km/h, Nahid elaborated, "I never felt compelled to bowl at 152 km/h or even faster. My primary focus was on adhering to the team's strategy. Additionally, I followed my own game plan. Pace isn't something you can force; it relies heavily on rhythm. Sometimes, it just happens naturally."
Looking ahead to the series against India, Rana shared his expectations: "India is undoubtedly a formidable team. However, in cricket, the team that performs better on the day will win. This will become apparent during the matches. I have a clear objective. I still need to give my best for the team, and I will strive to do so, Inshallah."
For context, Bangladesh is scheduled to play a two-match Test series against India starting on September 19. Following this, the two teams will compete in a three-match T20 series. The squad, led by Najmul Hossain Shanto, is set to depart for India on September 15.
