The Nabanna Utsab-1428, a festival of harvesting paddy, has been celebrated in Noakhali's Kompaniganj under the slogan ‘Aj E Nobanno Utsab E, Krishoker Anondo Obiram Hobe’. On this occasion a discussion meetings and cultural programmes were organised.
The festival was inaugurated by cutting ripe paddy in Enamertek area of Charhazari union of Companiganj upazila on Tuesday afternoon.

Assistant Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Agronomist Shahidul Islam presided over the discussion while, Noakhali Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Khorshed Alam Khan was present as the chief guest. Special guests were, District Agriculture Extension Department Training Officer Ayub Mahmud, Companiganj Upazila Executive Officer Md Ziaul Haque Mir, Companiganj Upazila Agriculture Officer Agriculturist Md Belal Hossain. The speakers said that Nabanna utsab is the festival of our souls. On the occasion of harvesting paddy, a wave of joy comes to the minds of everyone in the rural society at this time.
The present government is an agri-friendly government.The government is very sincere in the development of agriculture and farmers.
The speakers urged the concerned agriculture officials to ensure that the farmers get the incentives given by the agriculture department in a proper manner, he added.
