A total of one lakh fifty six thousand dosses of COVID-19 vaccine CoviShield have reached Narayanganj on Tuesday night.
Narayanganj Civil Surgeon Dr. Md. Imtiaz Hossain received the vaccines and kept them in a specialized preserve room of his office.
The civil surgeon told the media the vaccination procedure will start from February 7 through the 6 vaccination centers set at Narayanganj Khanpur Hospital, Narayanganj Sadar Hospital and 4 others upazila health complex.
In reply to a query on how and who will get priority in the vaccination process Dr. Imtiaz said that people who have registering their name through the corona vaccination app will be provided the vaccines first.
A reporter who along with his family members was infected by COVID-19 named Arif Alam Dipu expressed his opinion that he is very pleased on the arrival of the corona vaccine and added that he and his family members will take the vaccine as soon as possible.
Saiful Islam, a businessman said that he was feeling happy as corona vaccine is now available in the district.
Notably, the first patient of COVID-19 in Bangladesh was identified in Narayanganj on March 8, 2020. After that, the infection rapidly spread in the district and have already taken 155 lives infecting around 9 thousands people in the district.
