A lawsuit has been filed against former Narayanganj City Corporation mayor Salina Hayat Ivy, former lawmaker Shamim Osman, and 130 others in connection with the killing of a garment worker during quota protests on July 20.
Minarul Islam, 29, was shot dead in the Adamjee area on the evening of July 20. His brother, Nazmul Haque, filed the case at Siddhirganj Police Station yesterday afternoon, according to Officer-in-Charge Abu Bakkar Siddique.
The complaint names several individuals, including Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, former Narayanganj Zilla Parishad Chairman Anowar Hossain, Ivy's younger brother and Jubo League leader Ahammad Ali Reza Uzzal, and former BNP leader Ataur Rahman Mukul. Additionally, 200-300 unnamed people are also accused in the case.
In response, Salina Hayat Ivy said, "I have always worked for the people. I have never discriminated based on political affiliation, and neither did my father. Now, my younger brother and I are becoming victims of political manipulation."
