Syed Nazmul Hasan, 56, director of the Department of Environment (DoE) for Dhaka region, and his wife Nahid Binte Alam, 48, have died mysteriously.
Officer-in-Charge of Mirpur Thana Munshi Sabbir Ahmed confirmed the news on Thursday afternoon.
According to sources, the couple fell sick on Wednesday (February 21) at their flat of Mirpur-2 Officers Complex and taken to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College where Syed Nazmul Hasan declared dead.
His wife Nahid Binte Alam was shifted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) where she died on Thursday morning.
The bodies have been taken to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and reasons behind their deaths will be identified after autopsy.
Locals suspect they might have died due to taking heavy toxic liquor.
