Authorities said the Corona unit of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, the main government hospital in Mymensingh, is fully prepared to deal with Omicron variant of Covid-19 infection. To cope with Omicron variant, 340 common beds, 40 cabins and 22 beds in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) have already been provided in the Corona unit.

The Corona unit of the hospital was visited on Sunday morning and found three corona positive and 35 suspected patients under treatment. Four people are being treated in the ICU for 22 beds.

Due to the lack of patient pressure, the relatives of Corona patients have been seen less and less. As there are less patients, there is still no problem with medical services. There are no complaints from the patient or the patient's relatives.

Dr Mohiuddin Khan Moon, Focal Person of the Corona Unit at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, said that during the middle of last year, there was an oxygen crisis in Corona compared to the demand of the patients.

This time too they are giving more importance to that issue. This time they are keeping in touch in Dhaka so that there is no crisis.

He added that work is underway to install an oxygen generator. This will create oxygen from natural air. The crisis will be alleviated once the construction work is completed. In addition, the installation of an oxygen plant with a capacity of 10 to 20 thousand liters is under process.

Idris Ali, a relative of the patient admitted to Mymensingh Medical's Corona Unit, said he was admitting his elder brother four days ago due to fever and shortness of breath. Everyone is giving medical services with sincerity.

Almas Khan, another relative of the patient in Mymensingh Sadar, said the patient's pressure in the corona unit is now very low.

They are getting treatment for free. However, there are concerns about the quality of service as the number of patient increases.

Mymensingh Medical College Hospital Director Brigadier General Golam Kibria said the hospital's corona unit is fully prepared to deal with Omicron.

All the preparations have already been completed by holding one-on-one meetings with the doctors and everyone in the Corona unit.

He is hopeful that there will be no problem in medical services even if the patient's pressure increases.
