The authorities of Mymensingh Medical College celebrated its 61st founding anniversary Thursday amid enthusiasm and festivity.
On this occasion, the authority has arranged a commemorative discussions and an interesting cultural evening.
During the discussion, Principal of Mymensingh Medical College Dr. Md. Abdul Kader along with former Vice Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Medical College Freedom Fighter Prof. Dr. Kamrul Hasan Khan, Director of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital Brigadier General Md. Golam Ferdous, Deputy Director Dr. Zakiul Islam, BMA Mymensingh Zila President Dr. Matiur Rahman Bhuiyan and General Secretary Dr. H A Golandaz Tara and MMC students from around the country participated at the event. In 1924, during British colonial period, ‘Litton Medical School’ was founded in Baghmara area, named after the then governor of Bengal. In 1962, the name was changed to “Mymensingh Medical College”. With only 32 students, the college started its first batch – “M-01”. At present, the “M-60” batch is running. 1,760 students are currently studying in this 61-year-old college.
