Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) detained a Myanmar citizen with 80 cans of Andaman Gold Beer, 130 cans of Chang Classic Beer and 44 bottles of Grand Royal Whiskey from a commercial ship of Myanmar on Sunday night, says a press release issued by BCG.
The detainee was identified as Chati, 35, son of Lado Okia hailed from Myanmar.
Acting on a tip-off, BCG Station Teknaf, conducted a raid at the Sairang Canal under the Teknaf Police Station and detain the Myanmar citizen. Media Officer of Coast Guard East Zone Lt Shah Zia confirmed the matter.
Zia said he had been involved in the drug trading for a long time and the seized beer and whiskey was being brought to Myanmar for sale in Bangladesh.
Seized drug items and detainee have been handed over to Teknaf Police Station for further legal action.
