Arduzzaman Munshi, the luminary of Bangladesh's kabaddi, gracefully exited the arena, leaving behind a legacy crowned with the Bangabandhu Cup International Kabaddi title on June 3 in Dhaka.

Reflecting on the state of kabaddi during his professional debut in 2007, Munshi acknowledged the sport's struggles. "The players' performances were lacklustre, and organizational efforts fell short," he recalled. The lack of adequate preparation and training facilities often led to disappointing returns from international competitions.

When asked about the advancement of kabaddi in Bangladesh, Munshi emphasised the need for financial incentives for players.

"A franchise tournament akin to India's Pro Kabaddi League could spark interest in the youth," he suggested.

Such an initiative would lead to investments in training, coaching, and player development, propelling the sport forward.

Munshi also called for the enhancement of coaching standards through training courses or international exposure, noting the sport's constant evolution. Expressing a personal interest in coaching, he voiced his eagerness to lead a cadre of young players, should the federation entrust him with the responsibility of a year-round training camp.
