Muktijuddha Mancha, a platform of the descendants of the Freedom Fighters, is going to file a sedition case against Nayeb-e-Amir of Islami Andolan Bangladesh Syed Faizul Karim and acting Secretary General of Khilafat-e-Majlis Mamunul Haque for disgracing Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Leaders of Muktijuddha Mancha revealed this at a press conference at the Dhaka University Journalists' Association’s (DUJA) office on Saturday adding that they will file the case at the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Dhaka.
President of the organization Aminul Islam Bulbul said Faizul-Mamunul had committed treason by threatening to throw away the sculpture of Bangabandhu in the Buriganga and opposing the construction of the sculpture. Moreover, through this, they have also opposed the constitution of the country. So we have decided to file a sedition case against them, he added.
At the press conference, they placed a seven-point demand which include ensuring exemplary punishment of the duo, setting up Bangabandhu’s sculpture at all educational institutions and districts, banning religion-based politics to keep communal harmony vibrant, setting up an anti-sexual harassment cell to monitor sexual assaults on students, ensuring punishment to those who spread communal speech and capital punishment for child molesters.
General Secretary of the organization Al Mamun and DU unit president Sonet Mahmud among others addressed the press conference.
