Chattogram University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Alam said, “Our dream of independence came true at the hands of the Mujibnagar government. In the absence of Bangabandhu, this government gave us freedom by conducting the liberation war very efficiently by involving farmers, laborers and hardworking people in the war. The four national leaders worked tirelessly to garner support for the land called Bangladesh in the outside world. Independence of a country through just nine months of struggle, which was one of the biggest achievements of the Mujibnagar government. The younger generation needs to know this history. So that reactionary groups cannot take advantage of distorting history.”
The chief guest said these things in the discussion meeting titled "Historic Mujibnagar Day and Independence of Bangladesh" organized on virtual platform on Monday afternoon.
Dean of Faculty of Engineering and Technology Prof. Dr. Sunil Dhar and Dean of Faculty of Electrical and Computer Technology Prof. Dr. Mohammad Mashiul Haque were special guests on the occasion under the chairmanship of Student Welfare Director Prof. Dr. Md. Rezaul Karim. Member Secretary of National Day Celebration Committee, Dean and Registrar (Additional Charge) of Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Professor Dr. Sheikh Mohammad Humayun Kabir delivered the welcome address on the occasion.
Chairman of Staff Welfare Committee and President of CUET Bangabandhu Parishad Professor Dr. Jamal Uddin Ahmed, General Secretary of Chuet Teachers Association Dr. Md. Bashir Jisan, General Secretary of Officers Association Engineer Md. Mokbul Hossain and President of Staff Association Md. Jamal Uddin spoke on the occasion.
The program was moderated by Deputy Director (Information and Publication) Mohammad Fazlur Rahman. Teachers, officials and employees of the university participated in the discussion meeting.
Earlier, on the occasion of historic Mujibnagar Day, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu paid tribute to the portrait of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreaths.
