Movies competing at Cannes Film Fest-2024

The Cannes Film Festival is set to captivate audiences from May 14-25 with 22 films competing for the prestigious Palme d'Or. Here’s a look at the exciting lineup. There are films out of the competition also listed in the chart.  

"Megalopolis" by Francis Ford Coppola, a modern-day New York drama, stars Adam Driver. "The Apprentice" by Ali Abbasi, a biopic about Donald Trump's early years, features Sebastian Stan and Jeremy Strong. 

"Kinds of Kindness" by Yorgos Lanthimos, presents three short stories with Emma Stone, Willem Dafoe, and Margaret Qualley."The Shrouds" by David Cronenberg, stars Vincent Cassel and Diane Kruger in a supernatural drama about connecting with the dead.

"Oh, Canada" by Paul Schrader, sees Richard Gere reflect on his past in this introspective drama. "Emilia Perez" by Jacques Audiard, features Selena Gomez in a musical about a cartel boss's transformation.

"The Substance" by Coralie Fargeat, brings Demi Moore back in an ultra-violent horror film. "The Most Precious of Cargoes" by Michel Hazanavicius, an animation about a child’s escape during WWII. "Limonov" by Kirill Serebrennikov, explores the life of dissident poet Eduard Limonov.

"Parthenope" by Paolo Sorrentino, another love letter to Naples from the Oscar-winning director."Bird" by Andrea Arnold, a coming-of-age tale starring Barry Keoghan. "The Seed of the Sacred Fig" by Mohammad Rasoulof, shrouded in mystery amid government pressure. "Anora" by Sean Baker, a romantic adventure featuring Mikey Madison."The Girl with the Needle" by Magnus von Horn, inspired by a Danish serial killer.

"Motel Destino" by Karim Ainouz, an erotic comedy-thriller. "Grand Tour" by Miguel Gomes, about a British officer fleeing his wedding. "Marcello Mio" by Christophe Honore, with Catherine Deneuve as a woman impersonating her father."Caught by the Tides" by Jia Zhang-Ke, showcasing a new side of China.

"All We Imagine As Light" by Payal Kapadia, the first Indian entry in 30 years."Beating Hearts" by Gilles Lellouche, a French adaptation of an Irish novel. "Wild Diamond" by Agathe Riedinger, a debut about reality TV fame."Three Kilometres to the End of the World" by Emanuel Parvu, a story about a gay teenager in Romania.
