Advocate Kamrel Ahmed Chowdhury and Advocate Abdul Khalik were elected as president and general secretary in Moulvibazar District Bar Association elections held on Thursday.
Election Commissioner Advocate Bhupati Ranjan Chowdhury confirmed the information on Thursday night.
According to election office sources, Kamrel Ahmed Chowdhury got 177 votes for the post of president, Advocate Dudley Derrick Prentice got 183 votes for the post of vice-president, Advocate Abdul Khalik got 210 votes for the post of general secretary and Md. Mahbub Alam got 176 votes for the post of vice-secretary. Earlier, Sumon Kumar Das and Syed Sirajul Islam were elected unopposed as Vice-Secretary for library and sports-culture respectively.
Ashfaq Ahmed got 267 votes, Md. Imran Mia Lashkar got 246 votes, Nandita Baishya got 221 votes, Sajal Chandra Deb got 257 votes, Shakir Ahmed got 236 votes and Subina Akter got 229 votes for the post of member.
