A young man lost both his legs in a road accident that took place at Saraikandi area of Dashuria Union in Pabna’s Ishwardi upazila around 9:00 am on Friday.
The victim was identified as Ashikur Rahman, 30, son of Azizur Rahman of Rajapur village under Baraigram upazila of Natore.
Witnesses and police said Ashikur was coming to Dashuria on a motorcycle from his house. As he approached the Saraikandi highway, a speeding truck coming from the opposite direction pushed Ashikur's motorcycle hard. The truck wheels crushed both his legs and detached them from his body.
Upon receiving the news, Ishwardi Fire Service and Pakshi Highway Police came to the spot and took Ashikur to Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex in critical condition.
Pakshi Highway Police Inspector Abu Naeem Uddin Jihad Islam said, “We went to the spot as soon as we got the news. We rescued Ashikur and took him to Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex”.
He added that the driver of the deadly truck could not be apprehended as he quickly fled with the truck.
