A motorcyclist was killed as a truck ran over him on Dhaka-Tangail highway in Jokarchar area under Kalihati Upazila of Tangail on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Sazedul Islam, 45, son of Atatullah Fakir, a resident of Shahapur area under Ishwardi Upazila in Pabna district. He was doing a job in Gazipur.
A tailback was created on the highway due to the accident. Later, the vehicular movement became normal when police took the body and motorcycle from the highway.
Quoting locals, sub-inspector (SI) of the Police Station concerned Nazmul Islam said Sazedul was going to Ishwardi Upazila from Gazipur riding a motorcycle. A bus hit the motorbike and the motorbike fell on the highway. At that time, a truck ran over the motorcycle from behind, leaving him dead on the spot.
The motorcycle and the body of the deceased were kept at the police station. The family members of the deceased were informed. The body will be handed over to the family members after completing legal procedure. The bus and truck could not be seized, the SI added.
