A mother and her daughter were killed as a private car rammed into a standing tractor in Brahmanbaria district on Tuesday.
The mother and daughter were passengers of the private car.
The deceased were identified as Fayeza Banu, 45, wife of Md Ibrahim Mia, resident of Tilikandi village in Sarail Upazila, and her daughter Ferdousi, 20.
The incident occurred on Cumilla-Sylhet highaway in Betbaria area of Brahmanbaria on Tuesday morning.
Sub-Inspector (SI) of Sarail Khatihata highway police station, Sarwar Hossain, confirmed the matter.
He said the mother and daughter were going to Dhaka from Suhilpur area of Sadar Upazila in a private car. On the way to Dhaka, when the private car was crossing Betbaria area, it rammed into a standing tractor laden with electric poles. As a result, the electric poles were pushed inside the private car and the mother and daughter died at the spot being crushed by the electric poles.
Police went to the spot after learning about the incident. They seized the private car and the tractor. Later, they took the private car and the tractor to the police station.
The bodies of the mother and daughter were sent to District Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.
Legal measure is being taken in connection with this incident.
