Mother, daughter electrocuted in Chirirbandar

A mother and daughter have died after being electrocuted in a village in Chirirbandar upazila of Dinajpur. The son was seriously injured while trying to save them. The incident took place at 9pm on Wednesday at Punatti village in Punatti union of the upazila.

The deceased were identified as Savitri Rani, 55, wife of Harchandra Roy and her daughter Shapla Rani, 35. Meanwhile, her son Kshitish Chandra (30) was seriously injured. He has been admitted to Dinajpur M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital.

Chirirbandar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Subrata Kumar Sarkar said Savitri was electrocuted when she went to bathe in the yard at around 9pm after threshing paddy at home all day.

When daughter Shapla and son Kshitish went to save their mother, they were electrocuted. The mother and daughter died on the spot. The injured man is Kshitish. He was rescued and admitted to Chirirbandar Upazila Health Complex and later to Dinajpur M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital.
