Light to Life, collaboratively working with Youth Action For Social Development (YASD), Disable Welfare Society (DWS), and BacharLorai, have successfully distributed 50 mosquito nets among residents of the Mirpur area in Dhaka city.

This concerted effort aims to combat the escalating threat of dengue fever, a perilous mosquito-borne disease that has been increasingly prevalent in Bangladesh.

According to Rokon Ahmed, the Founder & President of YASD, "Mosquito-borne diseases pose a significant public health risk in Bangladesh, with dengue fever being among the most severe. Taking preventive measures is pivotal in controlling its spread, and the provision of mosquito nets to vulnerable communities stands as a crucial step in this preventive direction."

The distribution of mosquito nets was a key facet of the "Defeat Dengue Drive" orchestrated by BacharLorai. The event encompassed a rally aimed at fostering awareness about dengue fever and its prevention methods.

During the Defeat Dengue Drive by BacharLorai, Rokon Ahmed, Founder & President of YASD; Hasan Zobayer, Sheikh Muhammad Rehan & Luabn Tasnim from Light to Life; and Mehedi Hassan Emon, Executive Director of Citizen Foundation, extended aid to the most vulnerable individuals.

Talha Khan, Director of Signature Initiatives at BacharLorai, expressed gratitude, stating, "We extend our appreciation to Light to Life and its partners for their invaluable support in this significant initiative. Our commitment lies in collaborating with communities to combat dengue fever and safeguard the health of all Bangladeshis."

Beyond the distribution of mosquito nets, Light to Life and its affiliates have also undertaken mosquito-killing spray operations in various areas of Mirpur Poraboshti, coupled with awareness campaigns.

Laboni Akter, a resident of the Mirpur slum, shared, "Mosquitoes have been a major concern in our community. However, thanks to the distributed mosquito nets, our homes are experiencing significantly fewer mosquitoes. This has made a substantial difference in our lives."

The "Defeat Dengue Drive" aligns with WHO recommendations, striving to bridge gaps and establish connections between public and private initiatives to mitigate the impact of Dengue exposure. This initiative seeks to engage communities in collaboration with local organizations, recruit community volunteers, involve them in direct source reduction, train local residents, and promptly provide mosquito nets to marginalized communities, offering immediate relief.
