Actor Mosharraf Karim brings Bangla ghost stories to the screen with 'Adhunik Bangla Hotel', an anthology series set to premiere on the OTT platform Chorki.
The series, directed by Kazi Asad and based on short stories by Shariful Hasan, mixes psychological horror, fantasy, thriller, and mythology for a chilling Bengali twist.
Mosharraf, playing the lead in each story, explores different shades of supernatural encounters tied to Bengali cuisine. Episodes include ‘Khasir Paya’, ‘Hasher Salun’, and ‘Boal Macher Jhol’, each based on the themes of traditional Bengali dishes but with eerie undertones. Mosharraf noted that food’s role in these stories offers an unexpected twist, saying, "Audiences will be surprised; the stories begin naturally and shift to another level."
In ‘Adhunik Bangla Hotel’, Mosharraf brings a range of seen and unseen traits to his characters, capturing psychological depth and hidden conflicts. His dedication to the role is evident—he immersed himself in the nocturnal shoots, spending nights filming in Barisal for the episode ‘Hasher Salun’.
The first episode, ‘Boal Macher Jhol’, releases on October 30, with the remaining episodes rolling out weekly. The cast also features Gazi Rakayet, Salahuddin Lavlu, Shilpi Sarkar Apu, AK Azad Sethu, and Nidra Neha.
Director Kazi Asad shared that the project successfully presented Mosharraf in a unique light, capturing both the flavours and fears of Bengali ghost lore for a hauntingly memorable Halloween release.
