Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Freedom Fighter Md. Rezaul Karim Chowdhury has said that it will be possible to ensure the health care of more marginalised people by increasing the activities of the health department of Chattogram City Corporation if it receives more allocation from the Ministry of Health.

CCC Mayor Rezaul inaugurated the oral cholera vaccination campaign at Theater Institute on Sunday morning.  In the afternoon, the Mayor met Maya Vandenent, head of the health branch of the United Nations Children's Fund at the CCC office in Tigerpass of Chattogram.

CCC Mayor said, CCC is the only city corporation in Bangladesh that provides health care to citizens.  Once CCC health department was famous all over the country.

Later, the CCC Health Department lost its public service heritage due to insufficient attention.  Soon after I assumed office as Mayor, I took strong steps to alleviate the plight of the CCC Health Department.  After I took charge, I revamped Memon Hospital, set up Orthopaedic Rehabilitation Center.  Apart from expanding maternity services, I also have plans to build a specialized children's hospital.

He said that CCC mainly serves marginalized people through 56 health complexes in 41 wards of the city.  CCC has also conducted free testing of dengue patients along with the fight against Corona.

But we have to depend entirely on our own revenue for healthcare.  For this reason, it is possible to increase the activities of the CCC Health Department by using the existing infrastructure and manpower to ensure the health care of more marginalized people by getting the allocation from the Ministry of Health.

CCC Chief Executive Officer Sheikh Muhammad Tawhidul Islam, Panel Mayor Afroza Kalam, Councilor Zahar Lal Hazari, Abdus Salam Masum, CCC Chief Health Officer Dr. Salim Aktar Chowdhury, Mayor's Private Secretary Abul Hashem, Disease Control and Line Director, Communicable Diseases  Director of Control Professor Dr. Md. Nazmul Islam, ICDDRB Senior Consultant Dr. Firdousi Kadri, United Nations Children's Fund Chittagong Divisional Field Office Chief Madhuri Banerjee, Health Specialist Dr. Riyad Mahmu were present on the occasion.
