The chess prodigy of the Bangladesh Fide Master Monon Reza Nir triumphed the silver medal in the Western Asian Chess Championship 2024, in Colombo, Sri Lana. Nir earned the feat of becoming the national chess champions at his age only 15.
Monon reza went Sri Lanka just after the day of his confirming the national championship crown on July 6.
In the Blitz chess (a speed chess, a fast time control game) competition Nir won the Silver medal but the teen age chess player has already won number of national and international competitions. Monon Reza, who is also participating in the Western Asian Youth Chess Under-18 in third position with five points after seven matches. Besides Monom Reza Nir, Candidate Master Sakline Mostafa Sajid of Bangladesh is leading in the point table in the Under-14 group with six points from seven matches.
In the women division of Under-8 Warisha Haydar earned five points after seven matches and her Bangladesh’s compatriot of Under-18 group Women Fide Master Wadifa Ahmed earned four points.
