To tackle the rising concerns of Monkeypox virus all the arrival passengers in the country will come under screening at the airport.
Monkeypox is another contagious virus which is spreading across the world. The virus could be fatal to some infected patients, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) Chairman Air Vice Marshal (AVM) M Mafidur Rahman informed the media about this on Monday.
He said, “All the airports in the country, including Dhaka, are put on alert to prevent spread of Monkeypox virus. All passengers coming to Bangladesh will be screened at the airport.”
M Mofidur Rahman said, “All the passengers coming to Bangladesh will be given a health declaration form to fill in. There will be questions if the passenger is infected with monkeypox, if he has developed any symptoms of monkeypox and if he has travelled to any country where Monkeypox patients have been detected.
Their answers will be verified by the doctors of the health department. In addition, if any of them are infected with monkeypox, they can be recognised or identified with their appearance. Doctors will check up the passengers. The airline's crew will also be briefed on MonkeyPix."
Monkeypox is a disease of the chickenpox family. However, it is less severe than smallpox, with a mortality rate of less than 4 percent. Most patients recover within a few weeks without treatment. However, never before has there been such an outbreak of the disease outside Africa.
The disease was also identified in the Middle East on Sunday after Europe and North America. This unusual spread of Monkeypox outside Africa has raised concerns among virus experts. Most of them have been closely monitoring the disease in various African countries for many years.
