Rear Admiral SM Moniruzzaman takes charge as Chairman of Chattogram Port Authority (CPA). He succeeded the outgoing chairman Rear Admiral Mohammad Sohail.
He was serving as Commander of BN Fleet, before joining the post of CPA Chairman.
SM Moniruzzaman was born in Kushtia district. He passed his higher secondary with distinction from Cumilla Cadet College in 1987.
After joining the Bangladesh Navy as an officer cadet in 1988, he was commissioned in the executive branch in 1990.
During his career, he has successfully served in various operational assignments at national and international level.
During his long service life, he served in various positions in various ships, institutions and naval headquarters of Bangladesh Navy.
As his career in the Navy progressed, he commanded various front line ships including the flagship BNS Bangabandhu of the Bangladesh Navy.
He also commanded the Western Flotilla of Bangladesh Navy as Commander Flotilla West. Served as Director Personnel Services (DPS), Director Blue Economy (Ad Hoc) and Director Naval Training (DNT) at Naval Headquarters.
He was successful as Managing Director of Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC), Managing Director of DEW Limited, DGMIS of Army Welfare Organization, Chief Staff Officer of Commander Chattogram Naval Region.
He has participated in several professional courses at home and abroad.
He is a graduate of German Naval Academy (Crew VI/89) (Marineschule Murik), PN Communication School (Pakistan), Turkish Armed Forces War College (Harp Akademileri) and US Naval Command College.
