Rear Admiral SM Moniruzzaman has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Chattogram Port Authority (CPA). He will succeed the current chairman, Rear Admiral M Sohail.
The order was issued on Wednesday in a notification signed by Commodore AKM Afzal Hossain on behalf of the Bangladesh Navy.
Prior to this appointment, SM Moniruzzaman served as the managing director (MD) of the Bangladesh Shipping Corporation.
Before joining the Bangladesh Shipping Corporation as managing director, he served as the managing director of Dockyard and Engineering Works Limited in Narayanganj.
Moniruzzaman was born in Kushtia district. He passed with honors from Cumilla Cadet College in 1987 and joined the Bangladesh Navy as an officer cadet in 1988. He was commissioned in the Executive Branch in 1990.
