Monir Hossain Jibon’s contribution to Bangladeshi dramas

Monir Hossain Jibon, a renowned playwright, producer and director, passed away early Wednesday at the National Institute of Neurosciences Hospital in Agargaon, Dhaka. He was 56 years old. Monir Hossain suffered a stroke and was undergoing treatment when he passed away at 1:30 am.

His body was laid to rest at Shilpakala Academy on Thursday, where the public paid their respects. Later, his body will be taken to his village, Kutubadi in Manohardi Upazila, Narsingdi, for the final funeral and burial in the family cemetery.

Born on February 15, 1968, Monir Hossain was the son of freedom fighter MA Aziz. He was a player in the Narsingdi district and Bangladesh Ansar team during the 1980s. He also engaged in cultural activities through the Udichi artist group and later joined the Bangladesh Theater in Dhaka.

Monir Hossain began his career in film in 1990, working as an assistant director with his uncle, film director Badiul Alam Khokon. He worked as the chief assistant director on BTV's first package serial "Shilpi" and Humayun Ahmed's drama "Nakshatra Raat." Impressed by his work, Humayun Ahmed made him the chief assistant director of Nuhash Films.

In 2000, Monir Hossain founded his production company, Swadhin Film, producing numerous one-act plays and popular serials. His notable works include "Shada Kagoj," "Bonnar chokher jhol," "Oprotashito  Prottasha," "Atop or nishongata" "Ekjon Moyna," "Gunman," " Bibaho Sonkot ," " Korban Alir Korbani " "Kala Golar Mala," "Dhuli Bari," "Hotai," "Fajar Ali," " Oggan Party," "Tuchso," "Kota Ase," "Bongsho Pradip," "Ahom "Bangalir Bia," "Nijer Songe Dakha ," "Tumi Ele Tai," "Four Stupid," "Aj Robibar," "Chor Kata," "Ali Baba Chollish  Chur," "Ovimani," "Foiju Kabiraj," "Sei Koreso valo," "Neel Chaya," "Khondachitro," "Gujob," "Bhober Manus," "Fatik Chor Na Sobai," "Guneen," "Agantuk," and "Thanar Naam Shanir Akhra."

Monir Hossain Jibon will be remembered for his significant contributions to Bangladeshi drama and film. His passing marks a great loss to the entertainment industry.
