Accused Mohammad Elias, who was arrested in connection with the killing of Rohingya leader Mohib Ullah in Ukhia, Cox's Bazar, has given a statement under section 164 in court.
Cox's Bazar Superintendent of Police Md Hasanuzzaman confirmed the matter at 12:30 am on Sunday.
SP Md Hasanuzzaman further said that so far 5 people have been arrested in the case of Rohingya leader Mohib Ullah's murder and each of them has been remanded for 3 days by the court and interrogated. Mohammad Elias was brought to court on Saturday after a three-day remand following questioning. Later, he gave a statement under section 164 to the Cox's Bazar Chief Judicial Magistrate Court Judge Helal Uddin.
Earlier on Sunday (October 3) at noon in UkhiaKutupalongRohingya Camp-5, APBN arrested Elias. Also on Friday (October 1) at noon, members of the 14th Armed Police Battalion (APBN) arrested Mohammad Selim from Kutupalong Camp-6 in Ukhia on suspicion of involvement in Muhibullah's murder and handed him over to Ukhia Police Station. 14 APBN arrested Ziaur Rahman and Abdus Salam from KutupalongRohingya camp on Saturday morning on suspicion of involvement in Muhibullah's murder. In the afternoon, Ukhia police arrested another man named ShawkatUllah from Kutupalong camp.
It is to be mentioned that Rohingya leader Muhibullah was shot dead by terrorists while he was staying at the office of his organization around 8:30 pm on Wednesday (September 29). His younger brother Habib Ullah filed a case under Section 302/34 at Ukhia Police Station on Thursday (September 30) night.
