Mohammedan Sporting Club made an impressive start in the second leg of the Bangladesh Premier League football after defeating Fortis FC by 4-0 at the Rafiquding Stadium Maymensingh on Fridayy.
Mohammedan Sporting Club, who were five points behind to the leaders Bashundhara Kings, closer the gap after winning the match.
Mohammedan made their tally 20, just trailing by two points to Bashundhara Kings, are on top of the table with 22 points.
But the defending champions of the league Bashundhara Kings will play their first match of tehs second leg today against Brothers Union, if they will win the match then will again go five points ahead of Mohammedan.
But the Black and White are remain on second position, as they finished the first phase at same place.
However, Mohammedan led the first half by 2-0 with Mozfarov and Soleymane Diabate scored one each.
Mozafarov, the Uzbek defender broke the deadlock on 41st minute after controlling a cross from Diabate to lead Mohammedan 1-0 when Fortis FC could halt the giants up to 40 minutes.
Captain Diabate extended the tally in the injury period of the opening 45 minutes, as Diabate took the 2-0 first half advantage.
Jafor Iqbal and Shahrear Emon scored apiece in span of seven minutes to make the difference 4-0.
Jafor Iqbal scored their on 52nd when Shahrear Emon made it 4-0 on 59th minute.
Rest of the 30 minutes game, Mohammedan could not increase the tally when the Fortis FC fought back to stop the Black and White.
Meanwhile, Alfaz Ahmed’s boys won the first leg match against Fortis by 2-1 and this time kept the post intact.
Mohammedan finished the first leg with 17 points from nine outings.
Meanwhile, on the day, Police FC defeated Chittagong Abahani limited by a solitary goal at the Munshiganj Stadium.
Former champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club and Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra shared points in the day’s other match when drew the encounter by 1-1 at SheikH Fazlul Haqur Moni Stadium, Gopalganj.
