A mobile medical team has been formed in Kishoreganj to provide reproductive health services to pregnant women, maternity mothers, new-born babies and adolescents during Covid-19 disaster.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kishoreganj Md. Sarwar Murshed Chowdhury inaugurated the mobile health care vehicle on on Monday (May 4).
At present there are 46,500 pregnant women in Kishoreganj district. These women are not able to get regular medical checkups for fear of Covid- 19 infection.
In this situation, Sadar Upazila Family Planning implemented the program in collaboration with the district administration and Sadar Upazila Parishad in the lockdown situation as per the instructions of the World Health Organization. A car has been allotted for health care of pregnant women in Kishoreganj Sadar Upazila. It will gradually be extended to each upazila.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Abdullah Al Mashud, Sadar Upazila Chairman Mamun Al Masud Khan, Vice Chairman Md. Abdus Sattar, Women Vice Chairman Masuma Akter, President of District Mohila Parished Adv.
Maya Bhowmik, Upazila Family Planning Officer Md. Mizanur Rahman, Assistant Medical Officer Dr. Shafiq Uddin, FWV Sushmita Roy and others were present.
It is to be noted that this mobile medical team has been formed to ensure the health care of pregnant women after the news was published in The Daily Bangladesh Post on April 28 under the headline "46,500 pregnant women at health risk in Kishoreganj for virus crisis".
Deputy Commissioner Md. Sarwar Murshed Chowdhury said that a mobile health service team has been formed in Kishoreganj Sadar Upazila for maternity health services. The process of forming this team is going on in 13 upazila.
