In Chittagong's Mirsharai, 2 business establishments have been fined by a mobile court for selling products without BSTI approval and adding toxic colors to food. At that time Alif departmental store in the municipal headquarters of the upazila was fined 1000 taka and cake manufacturing company Jannat Food was fined 10 thousand taka.
On Tuesday around 1:00 PM, the mobile court was conducted by the Upazila Assistant Commissioner (VMC) and Executive Magistrate Mizanur Rahman in the Sadar area of Mirsarai Town. Chittagong BSTI Field Officer CM Officer Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Deputy Inspector of Mirsarai Police Station Ataur Rahman etc. were present at that time.
When asked about this, Assistant Commissioner (VMI) and Executive Magistrate Mizanur Rahman said that Alif Departmental Store located in the municipal headquarters was fined Tk 1,000 as per Section 52 of the Consumer Rights Act 2009 for selling products without BSTI approval and Jannat, a cake manufacturing company, for mixing toxic chemicals in food. Food has been fined Rs 10,000 as per section 30 of BSTI Act 2018.
