The intern doctors of Mymensingh medical college hospital had withdrawn their work abstention, three days after their strike and announced to return to their duties on Saturday.
MMCH intern doctors’ council president and general secretary confirmed the matter to media through a press release issued on Saturday.
They also held a demonstration in front of the medical college to press home their seven-point demand, including the safety of the doctors.
The hospital deputy director Md Zakiur Islam said that their medical services were not disrupted due to the strike. ‘The medical service in the hospital is normal,’ he added.
On Wednesday night, an assistant sub-inspector, who is currently posted at Cox’s Bazar police lines, admitted his wife to ward No-14 of the hospital.
An altercation began between relatives of the patient and some interns, said MMCH director brigadier general Golam Fedous.
MMCH police outpost in-charge Rafiqul went there with his team and got involved in altercation and made a clash with interns.
Several interns and policemen were injured during the clash and at one stage, the interns vandalised the police outpost.
Later, the hospital administration brought the situation under control.
