The government has appointed Mizanur Rahman as the next Ambassador of Bangladesh to Oman, the foreign ministry says.
Rahman is a career foreign service officer belonging to the 1985 batch of Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) Foreign Affairs cadre.
He is currently serving as the High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Canada.
Prior to his present assignment, he served in The Netherlands and Egypt as ambassadors.
In his career, he also served in different positions in Bangladesh missions in Colombo, Moscow and Manchester.
At the headquarters, he worked in various capacities including as Director General (Multilateral Economic Affairs) and Director General (Administration).
He also served as Additional Secretary (Bi-lateral and Consular) and later as Secretary (Bi-lateral and Consular) at the foreign ministry. He studied physics at Dhaka University.
