Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty is making a big comeback with the film ‘Shastri’. He will star alongside actress Debasree Roy after 16 years. The film is set to be released during the Durga Puja festival.
Mithun and Debasree have appeared in 15 films together, many of which were huge hits. Speaking about the project, Debasree said, "Working with Mithun-da is always a joy. He’s like family to me. After a long break, we are paired together again, and it has been a fun experience. He constantly jokes and plays pranks on set."
At 74, Mithun Chakraborty is taking on a challenging role in ‘Shastri’. He shared that his character has two looks—first as a struggling man from the working class who is bullied and oppressed, and then as Shastri, a transformed figure seeking revenge against his wrongdoers.
Mithun, known for his iconic role in ‘Disco Dancer’, started his career in 1976 with ‘Mrigaya’ and has acted in over 350 films. He expressed excitement about the film’s release during the Durga Puja festival.
The film’s director, Pathikrit Basu, said ‘Shastri’ explores themes of family, destiny, and life.
The movie also features a star-studded cast including Saswata Chatterjee, Kaushik Sen, Soham Chakraborty, Anirban Chakraborti, Sauraseni Maitra, and Rajatava Dutta. Soham, who plays an astrophysicist, explained that his character is against the misinterpretation of astrology and fights against superstitions. Fans are eagerly waiting to see Mithun back on screen in this much-anticipated film.
