Renowned Indian filmmaker Manas Mukul Pal is preparing for his latest project, which will feature legendary Indian actor Mithun Chakraborty and celebrated Bangladeshi actress Afsana Mimi. The film, based on an original story written by Pal, has already generated excitement in both countries.
The director, who gained acclaim for his National Award-winning film Sahaj Paather Gappo (Colours of Innocence), shared that this film is one of several projects he is currently working on. Among these is another highly anticipated screenplay, inspired by a story from iconic Bangladeshi novelist Humayun Ahmed. Though the title of this adaptation has not been announced, Pal plans to visit Bangladesh for detailed research.
Speaking to Indian media, Pal expressed his dedication to staying true to Humayun Ahmed's original work. “The novel highlights several important places in Bangladesh. It's crucial for me to visit these sites to authentically recreate the atmosphere and fully capture the essence of the story,” he said.
During his upcoming trip to Bangladesh, Pal will visit Dhaka, Kishoreganj, and other key locations featured in the novel. He also plans to meet Afsana Mimi for further discussions about the adaptation.
Despite the current political climate in Bangladesh, Pal remains optimistic about completing the project. "I have a few other commitments before starting this film, but I’m confident that when the time comes, the situation will be favorable for filming,” he stated. In addition to these two films, Pal continues to focus on his biopic about Indian revolutionary Dinesh Gupta. Although this production faced delays due to the pandemic and the loss of Soumitra Chatterjee, the director remains committed to seeing all his projects through to completion.
