Faculty of Civil Engineering, Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) organized an 'International Seminar on Mega-Structures'to celebrate the 'Mujib Borsho' and ‘Golden Jubilee of Bangladesh’ on Sunday through online platform.
According to the ISPR, professionals and students from both civil engineering industries and academia from home and abroad have attended this program.
Khandaker Anwarul Islam, Cabinet Secretary virtually attended the seminar as the chief guest and one of the keynote speakers.
Brigadiar General AKM Nazrul Islam, Acting Commandant, MIST was the Chief Patron of this seminar.Besides, Dr. Moncef L. Nehdi, Professor, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Western University, Canada; Professor Emeritus of BRAC University Dr.
AinunNishat, and Dr Hossain MD. Shahin, Professor and Head, Department of Civil Engineering, Islamic University of Technology (IUT), were the keynote speakers.

During the three-hour session, distinguished speakers shared their practical knowledge and experiences about planning, execution and management of several civil engineering mega-structures in Bangladesh and around the world. Challenges and lessons learnt from the construction and maintenance of the current megaprojects of the country, such as Padma Multipurpose Bridge and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel, and some world landmark mega-structures were highlighted in the seminar.
