The body of a missing child was found from a pond in Rangpur's Pirgachha upazila on Monday, two days after she went missing.
The body was recovered in the morning from a pond of Chalunia Beel in the upazila.
Deceased Umm Habiba, 7, was the daughter of Abdul Hakim, a resident of Chaluniya Panatipara village under the upazila. According to police and locals, Umme Habiba went missing after from house around 10 am on Saturday. Then, the family members could not find her in all possible places.
Later, locals spotted the body of the baby floating on the water in a pond of Chalunia Beel in the morning.
On information, police recovered the body from the spot.
Pirgachha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sushant Kumar Sarkar said the body will be handed over to the family after legal process.
