A Dhaka court on Wednesday granted bail to BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul and Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud in a case filed over alleged attacks on law enforcers during the party's rally on October 28.
Sub-Inspector of Police (ASI) Alamgir Hossain, an officer of the general recording section of Paltan police station, confirmed the news.
The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Tahmina Haque passed the order after hearing the bail petitions.
According to the court sources, a total of 11 cases were filed against the BNP leader over political violence since October 28. Of the cases, he secured bail in ten of them.
As he has yet to secure bail in the case filed over attacks on the chief justice's residence, the second in command of the BNP will still be
in jail. On October 29, Mirza Fakrul was arrested and presented to the court in the case filed over the attack on the chief justice's residence.
Earlier on January 9, a Dhaka court set his bail hearing in nine separate cases related to clashes on October 28.
