Mirpur-10 metro rail station is expected to resume operation shortly as the system of every parameter was witnessed satisfactory following the final test for reopening of the station on Thursday.
“We’ve completed the test operation of Mirpur-10 metro rail station successfully. Everything is satisfactory. System of every parameter is also Ok,” Managing Director of Dhaka Metro Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) Abdur Rouf told BSS on Thursday.
Mirpur-10 and Kazipara stations were vandalized by miscreants during anti-discrimination student movement on July 19.
Abdur Rouf said two trains were engaged to run through Mirpur-10 station, which were satisfactory. The first train was stopped at the station at 6:10am while the second one at 6:20am, he added.
During the operation of the two trains, a technical team was present and observed the test operation, the managing director added.
“We have successfully conducted the final test for reopening the Mirpur-10 metro station after repairing and replacement of partially and fully damaged equipment,” said Abdur Rouf.
He said the Mirpur-10 station was repaired quickly considering
commuters’ demand. Equipment repair and replacement cost for Mirpur-10 station will be higher than Kazipara station, as it was damaged massively, he added.
Miscreants vandalized everything of the station including the ticket vending machine, passenger entry punch machine at the main station, which forced the authorities to keep it closed for 37 days.
After taking oath on August 8, the interim government took steps to resume operation of metro rail on August 25, except Mirpur-10 and Kazipara stations. The authorities brought Kazipara station under operation on September 20 after necessary repairing work.
