People of minority communities formed a human chain at Madhuganj Bazar in Kaliganj upazila town of Jhenaidah district to press home their 5-point demands on Sunday morning.
The five point demands includes forming a ministry for minority communities, forming a minority safety committee to ensure the security of minority communities, legislation of law to protest against the assault and vandalism conducted against the minority communities and implementing those laws, allotment of 10 percent of parliamentary seats for the people of minority communities and providing financial compensation to the families who lost their family member during anti-discriminatory student movement along with giving government jobs according to qualification to one member of their family.
A few thousand people of Hindu community formed the human chain for an hour with banner and festoons.
President of Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council Kaliganj upazila unit Tithi Rani Bhadra, general secretary of Puja Udjapan Parishad Prashanta Khan, acting president of Kaliganj Sarbojanin Kalibari Temple Board of Directors Nishithbaran Saha and general secretary Amalindan Bishwas spoke in the human chain programme.
The community leaders demanded an end to the vandalizing of properties of minority communities and the assault on the temples, religious institutes, individuals’ houses, and other establishments of the minority communities throughout the country. They demanded justice for any incident during the recent unrest when the Sheikh Hasina resigned from her post of Prime Minister and fled the country. They also requested to provide them safety and security from the state itself.
