Police arrested a youth named Morsaline, 21, on charge of raping a five-year old child at Chirirbandar upazila in Dinajpur. Chirirbandar Police Station produced the accused before a court in Dinajpur on Wednesday.
Morsalin is the son of Noor Hossain of Mathurapur Pashchim Millpara village of the upazila.
Khairul Basar, the father of the child, filed a rape case with Chirirbandar police station on Tuesday afternoon, under Women and Children Repression Prevention Trial Act.
According to the sources, on the afternoon of January 14, Morsalin tried to rape Khairul Basar's infant daughter in the neighboring under construction house of Ashraf Ali.
The local residents rescued the injured child and admitted her to The Chirirbandar Upazila Health Complex.
When the condition worsened, the doctor on duty referred her to Dinajpur M. Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital. The investigating officer, SI Md. Liton Akand, said that after the arrest of the accused, he confessed during primary interrogation. Following that, the accused was sent to court on Wednesday morning.
