Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that militants had planned to attack Bangladesh also like Sri Lanka.
But they failed due to active surveillance of our Bangladesh’s law enforcement agencies.
The PM revealed the information while inaugurating the Rajshahi-Dhaka intercity non-stop train ‘Banalata Express’ at a programme at her official residence at Ganabhaban on Thursday.
Mentionable, on Sunday, a series of bomb attacks carried out by religious extremists at nine venues including elite hotels and churches rocked the island nation of Sri Lanka, killing at least 359 people and injuring more than 500.
After the attack, security measures has been beefed up at some places including Dhaka. Although there was no specific information about any imminent terror attack in Bangladesh, law enforcement agencies strengthened security activities in the country considering overall situation after the attack in Sri Lanka.
PM called upon to the mass people to inform the law enforcement agencies over any suspected militant activities.
She said BNP-Jamaat patronized terrorism and militancy. Awami League came to power and eradicated it.
Sheikh Hasina urged the imams to make people aware about terrorism and militancy in Friday prayers in the mosque.
