Microsoft Office 2024 launches as one-time purchase for PC, Mac

Published : 04 Oct 2024 08:58 PM

Microsoft Office 2024 is now available as a standalone purchase for the first time since 2021. If you prefer not to commit to a subscription, this new option is for you.

Typically, accessing Microsoft Office products—like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Outlook—requires a Microsoft 365 subscription. Starting October 1, Office can be purchased outright.

The Office Home 2024 edition costs $149.99 and excludes Outlook, while the Home & Business 2024 version, which includes Outlook and commercial use rights, is priced at $249.99.

These standalone versions won't receive feature updates like the subscription model, but they are a good choice for those satisfied with the current features.

If you're willing to use an older version, Office 2021 is available for just $35.

Office 2024 brings notable updates: Excel offers improved performance and new functions for handling text and arrays.

Outlook includes an accessibility checker, while PowerPoint introduces the Camera feature for live camera feeds. OneNote enhances inking with a full-screen mode.

Office 2024 is compatible with Windows 10 and 11 and the latest three versions of macOS.

A Microsoft account and internet connection are required to use the software.
