Microbus fire at Meghna toll plaza leaves five critically injured

A passenger microbus crashed into the divider at the Meghna toll plaza in Sonargaon upazila of Narayanganj, causing a fire that left five people critically injured in a tragic incident on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway on Wednesday.

The victims' identities could not be immediately ascertained.

The accident occurred around 10:30 am, causing the microbus to lose control and overturn. 

According to Abu Nayem, the inspector of the Kanchpur Highway Police Station, the injured were taken to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka right away.

The Chattogram-bound microbus, according to police and residents, caught fire at around 10 a.m. after it struck the road divider close to the toll plaza.

Locals reportedly heard screams and pulled the injured through the window of the car before taking them to the hospital.

Officer-in-Charge Rezaul Haq of the Highway police station reported that a fire department responded quickly and put out the fire.
