Rashed Khan Menon, President of Bangladesh Workers' Party and Hasanul Haq Inu were placed on remand on Tuesday in separate cases filed for murder.

Menon has been remanded for six days by the court in a case filed at Adabor Police Station in the capital, accusing him of the murder of garment worker Rubel during the anti-discrimination movement.

After the hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saifur Rahman granted a seven-day remand for Menon in this case.

Earlier, on August 23, the court granted a five-day remand for him in a case filed at New Market Police Station in the capital, accusing him of shooting and killing businessman Abdul Wadud.

On August 22, Rubel's father, Rafiqul Islam, filed the case at Adabor Police Station.

A Dhaka court also placed Inu on a seven-day remand in the Abdul Wadud murder case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ali Haider passed the order after police produced him with a 10-day remand prayer, a sub-inspector working in the court told The Bangladesh Post.

Inu was arrested at his relative's house in Uttara of Dhaka yesterday.

On August 21, Abdur Rahman, the victim's brother-in-law, filed the case with New Market Police Station against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and 129 others.
